NYCHA Maritime Career Readiness Program RFEI

Description: NYCEDC is issuing this RFEI to identify qualified organizations to design and deliver a NYCHA Maritime Career Readiness Program for youth and young adults in public housing developments surrounding the Brooklyn Marine Terminal, including Red Hook Houses East and West, Gowanus Houses, and Wyckoff Gardens. The program is intended to connect residents to maritime, transportation, and logistics careers through career exploration, industry exposure, work-based learning, credential attainment, and supportive services. This is a procurement RFEI rather than a grant, and responses from qualified nonprofit, workforce-development, educational, labor, and other experienced organizations are due by November 5, 2026 at 4:00 PM.

Maritime Operators, Electric Barge Service Between Brooklyn Marine Terminal and Hunts Point Marine Terminal RFEI
NYCEDC is seeking expressions of interest from maritime operators, vessel designers, logistics firms, and technology partners to develop an all-electric and/or zero-emissions container-on-barge and associated tug service between the Brooklyn Marine Terminal (BMT) and the future Hunts Point Marine Terminal (HPMT). The service must be capable of transporting at least 100 40-foot refrigerated containers (reefers) per sailing with continuous refrigeration capacity. The initiative aims to improve food resiliency, reduce highway congestion and emissions, and catalyze zero-emissions maritime technology, with HPMT expected to open in Q2 2030.

The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) has issued an open Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEI) titled 'Ideas for Impact RFEI' to source innovative and impactful partnership ideas from private sector and non-profit organizations that fall outside the scope of NYCEDC's other active solicitations.
