Replace an existing 8" high pressure plug valve with a new 8" welded, maintenance-free ball valve. The project requires installing the new valve while maintaining system integrity by performing hot tapping and stopping operations. 6' x 40' quadrupole detection loop, the detection loop will be replaced within three days after the pavement work is complete. Utility coordination and Georgia 811 notification prior to excavation. Traffic control. Saw cutting, excavation, trench safety, dewatering, and restoration of the work area. Installation of city-furnished 8" control fittings, piping, valve and associated appurtenances. Fabrication and welding of the replacement valve assembly. Pressure testing of the completed installation. Removal and abandonment of the existing valve. Leak testing, coating/wrapping of exposed steel piping and fittings, and installation of the new valve box. Backfilling, compaction, and restoration of the roadway. Disposal of all waste materials generated during construction.
