Comprehensive Museum Planning and Exhibition Concept Services
The City of Roswell is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide Comprehensive Museum Planning and Exhibition Concept Services for the Roswell Museum. The selected firm will assist the City in developing a comprehensive plan that establishes the vision, goals, operational needs, collections requirements, visitor experience strategies, and exhibition concepts for the future of the museum. The resulting plan will serve as a guide for future facility development, programming, fundraising, and long-term institutional growth. The Roswell Museum has served the community since its establishment in 1937 and maintains a significant collection of art, history, science, and cultural resources. In October 2024, the museum experienced a major flooding event that impacted museum facilities, collections, and archives. As the City evaluates future opportunities for the museum, there is a need for a comprehensive planning effort to identify institutional priorities, collections and exhibition requirements, visitor engagement opportunities, and operational needs. Through this project, the City seeks to develop a strategic roadmap for the future of the museum that reflects community values, supports preservation of collections, enhances visitor experiences, and establishes a framework for future development. This project is funded through a current State of New Mexico appropriation and will provide the planning foundation necessary to guide future museum-related investments and decision-making.
