Description: Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory is soliciting proposals to construct an addition to and renovate the existing Central Utility Building at Fermilab in Batavia, Illinois. The facility provides chilled water, hot water, low-conductivity water, and makeup water for laboratory buildings and systems, supporting comfort, process cooling, and utility requirements. The work is scheduled to begin in January 2028, with final completion targeted for September 28, 2029, within Fermilab’s accelerator shutdown window.

All work includes transportation, overhead, bonding costs, safety oversight, quality control oversight, and supervision as required to construct the project described in the drawings, technical specification and the detailed description contained herein. Demolition of existing piping, equipment, conduit, ductwork, and others as indicated in the drawings. Expand CUB for location of new chillers and increase in the chilled water capacity. MEP - Multi Building Residence Hall Addition & Renovation
In general, the work consists of: renovations to provide building code, accessibility, life safety and building system infrastructure upgrades throughout the Kronshage, Jorns, and Humphrey student residences (11 buildings, approximately 182,300 SF building area). This project also creates new facility amenities for resident gathering gathering spaces, kitchenettes, study spaces, and restroom configuration improvements in select locations. New elevators in three of these buildings will increase the number of accessible resident rooms in Kronshage Hall significantly. Project work includes but is not limited to replacing the steam heating system with a new hot water system; providing air conditioning to resident rooms, common spaces, required technical spaces, and office spaces; mechanically ventilating resident rooms and common spaces; upgrading and augmenting the fire alarm and smoke detection systems to meet current code requirements; and installing a new fire suppression system.
