Cape Fear Academy Capital Improvement Program - Phase 1 RFP

Description: Project includes an addition of approx. 25,000 SF, separated into two floors of 11,500 SF with an equipment platform above. The new addition will be fully sprinklered and will be Type IIB construction, consisting primarily of a steel frame with metal stud and gypsum partition walls, and non-load-bearing masonry used throughout the corridors. The addition will consist of general classrooms, science classrooms, administrative space, and other small huddle rooms to be used by students and staff. The exterior materials include utility brick with punched storefront openings, areas of curtain wall with horizontal sunshades, wood-look metal soffits, and a blend of standing seam metal roofing and low-sloped TPO roofing. The interior materials include resilient flooring with a rubber base, painted walls, a perforated metal infill railing at the open stair, and various sizes and styles of lay-in ceiling tile with gypsum bulkheads. A 2-hour fire wall separates the existing building and the new addition. The existing building will include an extension of the existing covered walkway to connect to the new addition. The interior will have select areas of renovation work, including room reconfigurations, lighting upgrades, and flooring upgrades.
