Summary
The existing big easley tank is an above-grade, wire-wound prestressed concrete water storage tank, originally constructed in 1963. The tank has an internal diameter of 120 feet and a height of 30 feet, providing a total storage capacity of approx. 2.5 million gallons. Planned improvements include replacement of the interior and exterior ladders, the existing roof access hatch, and the existing center vent, which will be upgraded with a new 24-inch square aluminum vent. Roof handrails will be installed, and the interior floor joints will be rehabilitated. Additional work includes replacement of the internal overflow pipe and pipe supports, surface preparation and coating of the common inlet/outlet pipe, and concrete repairs such as crack injection and sealing of the roof slab. The exterior tank walls will be pressure washed and coated. Modifications to the overflow yard piping are also planned and include the addition of a second manhole approximately 10 feet from the tank to provide an air gap. A waterman flap gate will be installed within the new manhole to control flow.
