Summary
A. Traffic Control: Provide all necessary traffic control devices, signage, and personnel required to safely perform work on an active state route. One lane of traffic will need to be open at all times on the exit ramp. B. Excavation; One lane of traffic will need to be open at all times on the exit ramp. Sawcut a clean joint of full depth of pavement along the entire length of the exit ramp, to include the rectangular section where the turn lane meets SR153. Remove and dispose of pavement that is beyond the sawcut. Remove and dispose of all rock and organic matter such that the constructed exit ramp is built on solid engineered fill (pug road base); Contractor will assume the following layers for the travel lane: 8" Concrete; 4” TPB; 4” Base Stone; Ensure that the base stone is properly compacted with a vibratory roller (at proper moisture content). The total width of the graded area shall be 18 feet (as shown in the attached drawings); Ensure the road base matches the cross-slope that the asphalt above it will have (please note the attached images); Demobilize and remove all trash and debris from the work site. Seed and straw any disturbed areas Add Snow plowable Raised Pavement Markers according to standard drawing T-M-1 By submitting bids for this work, the bidder represents that it has: C. Median Improvements (S.R. 153); Replace pavement markings for the left turn lane, acceleration lane, white island, and yellow median channelization.; Add 85' of Tuff Curb to the median with 10' of space between the end of the curb and the median nose. All striping shall be thermoplastic. D. Exit Ramp Improvements (S.R. 29) NB. Widen the exit ramp from SR29 NB to SR 153 from one 16' lane to two 12' lanes. Widen 8' of concrete type A mix with anti-skid aggregate on the left side to widen to the left. Use Standard Drawing RD18-TS-8 for the typical section (attached). Do a full depth replacement on the left shoulder pavement as it will become travel lane pavement. Add Type B Wrong Way arrows and left and right turn arrows. Adjust the right left turn lane to turn less sharply than the existing condition. It should be at a 60-degree angle to SR153. Channelize the right left shoulder and replace island channelization as shown. Remove existing signs on the ramp except for guide signs. Replace and upsize yield sign to 60"x60"x60" with reflective red strips on the posts. Replace the two 36"x36" stop signs and four 54"x18" one-way arrows. Replace three 36"x36" "DO NOT ENTER" signs. Two will now be on separate posts. Place two new 36"x36" movement restriction symbol signs. Place four new 42"x30" "WRONG WAY" signs. Place four new 36" tall Advance Intersection Lane Control signs. Replace the striping as shown on these drawings. All striping shall be thermoplastic.
