Sixteenth annual IRS-TPC Joint Research Conference on Tax Administration 2026

The Internal Revenue Service and the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center co-sponsor this annual research conference focusing on tax administration topics. Areas of interest include measuring and influencing taxpayer compliance, estimating taxpayer compliance costs (burden), tax complexity, improving tax administration (e.g., through service, enforcement, systems, third parties, changing the tax law or regulations, etc.), and understanding the nature and behavior of the taxpayer population. The conference aims to facilitate dialogue among IRS researchers, IRS and State tax administrators, tax experts from other countries, academic researchers, federal agencies, and private sector experts.
