About this conference

NIEA Hill Week is the National Indian Education Association's (NIEA) annual in-person advocacy event focused on Native education. It brings together Tribal Nations, Native educators, families, and allies to engage directly with Congress, hear from federal leaders, and speak with policymakers about the needs of Native students. Grounded in the theme 'Sovereign Education: Forging Our Way Forward,' the event aims to advocate for policies that honor Tribal sovereignty and support Native students, improving educational opportunities for American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian students. Attendees can expect to hear from members of Congress and federal officials, caucus with NIEA members and stakeholders to align on key messages, and participate in one-on-one conversations with congressional staff and decision makers on Capitol Hill.
