About this conference

The Greater Everglades Ecosystem Restoration Conference (GEER) serves as a pivotal gathering for scientists, policymakers, stakeholders, and community members dedicated to the restoration and conservation of the Everglades ecosystem. This year's theme is "Science and Management of Everglades Ecosystems -- Building Resilience." The conference addresses significant challenges facing ecological restoration efforts in the Greater Everglades region, including impacts from climate-related phenomena such as changes in rainfall patterns, increased temperatures, rising sea levels, and increased frequency and intensity of rainfall and flooding. Restoration efforts are focused on building ecosystem resilience through improving the quantity, quality, timing, and distribution of water. GEER aims to advance understanding of complex environmental challenges, explore effective restoration strategies adaptable to evolving climate conditions, and ensure the long-term resilience and sustainability of the Greater Everglades ecosystem. Overarching themes include Hydrology and Water Management, Ecosystem Health and Biodiversity, Policy and Governance, Community Engagement and Outreach, and Innovative Technologies and Research. The conference facilitates knowledge sharing, networking, collaboration, and informs decision-making by integrating scientific findings and community perspectives.
