Building Innovation 2026

The 14th Annual Building Innovation Conference, hosted by the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS), addresses mounting challenges in the built environment such as natural hazards and aging lifeline infrastructure. The 2026 conference focuses on 'Advancing the Built Environment as a System of Systems & Innovations in Modular Offsite Construction,' aiming to align and strengthen America's infrastructure. It convenes leaders from government, AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry, research, and community planning to foster integrated, future-focused practices. Day One emphasizes cross-sector policy alignment and system-wide collaboration for long-term resilience of lifeline networks. Day Two explores innovations in digital delivery, building codes, housing, capital investment strategies, and adaptive design, with critical focus areas on 'Systems of Systems' and 'Modular Offsite Construction.' Attendees can earn AIA LU credits, ICC credits, and certificates of attendance while collaborating across disciplines to address the country’s evolving infrastructure needs and improve the built environment.
