About this conference

The Biennial Okefenokee Science Symposium brings together researchers, students, conservation professionals, and community members to explore the state of the science in the Okefenokee Swamp ecosystem. This interdisciplinary event highlights cutting-edge research across a wide range of specific fields with emphasis on hydrology, ecology, biodiversity, and the human dimensions of this incredible wetland system. Hosted by the College of Coastal Georgia, this symposium aims to advance understanding through collaboration, dialogue, and shared discovery. Everyone is welcome! All are invited to learn, share, and connect. The Academic Symposium will be held on Friday, October 16, at the College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick, featuring keynote presentations by Dr. Reed Noss of the University of Central Florida and Dr. Ania Truszczynski, Deputy Director of the Georgia Environmental Protection Division. On Saturday, October 17, participants can explore the Okefenokee firsthand through guided field excursions.
