Asian Studies on the Pacific Coast 2026 Conference (ASPAC 2026)

The Asian Studies on the Pacific Coast 2026 Conference (ASPAC 2026) at California State University, Northridge invites proposals from college and university faculty, K--12 educators, independent scholars, and graduate and undergraduate students engaged in Asian and Asian diaspora studies. Under the theme Rethinking Asia: Crisis, Resilience, and Collective Futures, the conference welcomes submissions for panels, roundtables, individual papers, and poster presentations on historical and contemporary topics across all Asia-related disciplines. As climate change, geopolitical conflict, technological transformation, and shifting migration patterns reshape communities and environments, we invite participants to examine how Asia and its diasporas confront, interpret, and reimagine these intersecting challenges. Possible areas of focus include sustainable development and ecological adaptation; mobility, precarity, and transnational networks; digital cultures and the ethics of AI; artistic, literary, and media engagements with disruption and resilience; and the evolving meanings of community, heritage, and belonging. We particularly encourage contributions that bridge disciplines and offer hopeful pathways for a just and sustainable future.
