Annual IHL Youth Summit

The Annual IHL Youth Summit is the culminating event of the IHL Youth Action Campaign year. Each Spring, a select number of outstanding advocates and JROTC Cadets are invited to Washington, D.C. on a fully-funded trip that develops their personal skills, grows their network, and expands their knowledge of IHL. Summit participants are selected from around the world by a panel of Red Cross professionals to represent their regions and divisions. This incredible opportunity reflects one of the highest honors within the IHL YAC program and is a significant achievement for attendees. The International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Youth Summit is a hybrid, multi-week event concluding the annual campaign year. It brings together selected IHL YAC Advocates and JROTC cadets to collaborate, learn from professionals, develop leadership skills, and engage in impactful activities. The program culminates in an in-person session at the Red Cross National Headquarters in Washington, D.C. This prestigious event unites youth nationwide around a shared passion for IHL. The Red Cross IHL Team is thrilled to host the annual Youth Summit where representatives will gain the unique opportunity to explore IHL's role in U.S. governance, history, and key organizations. They will collaborate with peers and Red Cross senior leaders, leaving the program inspired, passionate, and well-versed in IHL. Attendees will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn about the realities of IHL and how professionals from the U.S. government, military, and other organizations work in this field.
