AI4LAM Fantastic Futures 2026: Trust in the Loop

Fantastic Futures 2026 (FF2026) is an international conference organized by AI4LAM focusing on the intersection of AI and cultural heritage, specifically within Libraries, Archives, and Museums (LAMs). The conference aims to explore how memory institutions can adapt to rapidly evolving AI technologies while maintaining public trust, authenticity, and accountability. Key focus areas include ethical and trustworthy AI adoption, sharing knowledge, tools, research, and case studies, education and training, fostering international collaboration, and exploring future-oriented technologies for cultural memory work. The event will cover topics such as AI tool implementations in LAMs (addressing resource constraints, legacy systems, ethical practices, risk mitigation, and impact measurement), data management for AI systems (including data quality, preparation, documentation, and governance), human-centered aspects of AI adoption (engaging users, staff training, community engagement), and the development of models and infrastructure (shared infrastructure needs, data sharing across institutions, evaluating AI tools). The conference will feature a Member Day, a Strategic Forum for institutional leaders, and the Fantastic Futures Innovation Awards.
