About this conference
The title of this year’s Symposium is ‘Taxes in 2026 and Beyond: The Same as They Ever Were?’ It was organized by Fitzroy Lee from DC’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Dayanand Manoli of Georgetown University, and Joseph Rosenberg from the Urban Institute and Tax Policy Center. The symposium will explore impacts of the 2025 reconciliation law (OBBBA), what we can learn from prior tax reform efforts as the law is implemented, and potential issues that remain unresolved going forward. It will feature paper sessions, panel discussions, and keynote talks over the two days. Paper sessions and panels will address: questions of fiscal sustainability, effects of new tax laws, changing international tax rules and relationships, anti-poverty programs, innovations in tax administration and enforcement at the federal and state levels, energy and environmental taxation, taxing new activities in a changing economy, and federal-state fiscal relations. We look forward to seeing you in person and hearing your thoughts on these important issues.
