About this conference
The 53rd United States-Japan Natural Resources (UJNR) Aquaculture Panel Scientific Symposium, scheduled for November 16-19, 2026, aims to foster a cooperative research exchange between the U.S. and Japan on environmental and technical issues affecting the aquaculture industries of both nations. The theme for this year's symposium is "A New Era for Sustainable Aquaculture, the next 50 years of research, education and collaboration," with a subtheme focusing on "New technologies for Production Systems." Key topics for presentations will include offshore aquaculture systems, Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) technologies, satellite and remote sensing applications, acoustic monitoring of offshore aquaculture, uncrewed marine and aerial systems, digital twins and predictive modeling, Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications, and high-performance and cloud computing for big data. The symposium seeks to facilitate the exchange of scientific information, explore new research collaborations, and will produce proceedings comprising mini-papers (abstracts, presented research, and annotated bibliographies).
