The 15th Western Black Bear Workshop will be held from March 29 to April 2, 2027, at the Icicle Village Resort in Leavenworth, Washington. This workshop, sanctioned by the Western Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies (WAFWA) and organized every three years by the Wildlife Chiefs Committee, serves as a crucial forum. Leading black bear managers and researchers from across North America convene to share recent research findings, discuss effective management strategies, and address emerging issues pertinent to black bear management. Topics include population demographics, ecology, behavior, management in dynamic landscapes, applicable monitoring and research methods, human dimensions, and interactions between black bears and grizzly bears.
