About this conference
The VML Annual Conference is an event held each fall, attracting about 1,000 local government officials, speakers, and exhibitors. It features general sessions with political leaders, nationally-known speakers, and local government experts, as well as workshop sessions on a variety of local government issues. The conference includes a business meeting for the adoption of the annual VML legislative program and the election of officers, alongside the presentation of annual achievement awards recognizing excellence in local government programs. It also provides networking opportunities with colleagues from across the state and an exhibit hall showcasing products and services for local governments. In 2026, the awards banquet, including the President's Award for Innovation, will be held during the conference in Norfolk in October.
