2026 Presidents Institute A Deeper Purpose

The 2026 Presidents Institute, organized by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), focuses on empowering independent colleges and universities to fulfill their missions and serve the common good. It provides CIC member presidents, presidential spouses and partners, and industry experts an opportunity to explore timely solutions to pressing issues. The agenda includes plenary panels on the academic social contract, campus cultures of resilience, identity and pluralism in higher education, and the federal policy agenda. Concurrent, discussion, and interactive sessions will offer peer wisdom on topics such as board relations, finances, partnerships and mergers, accreditation, artificial intelligence, legal and political issues, and media relations. The Institute aims to deepen professional relationships, inspire attendees, expand their vision, and renew their purpose as leaders in independent higher education. Pre-Institute programs for new presidents and their spouses/partners are also offered.
