2026 Denakkanaaga Elders and Youth Conference & Annual Meeting

The annual Denakkanaaga Elders and Youth Conference and Annual Meeting will take place on June 2-4 in Gwichyaa Zhee (Fort Yukon). The two-day conference will be held on June 2 and 3, with the Denakkanaaga Annual Meeting occurring on June 4. This year’s conference theme is ‘Upholding Our Traditional Ways to Move Forward’. The conference addresses important issues for the region. It includes elections for three Elder Denakkanaaga board seats, a youth representative, and the TCC E-Board Elder Advisor position. Keynote speakers include Chief Emil Notti (elder address) and Mackenzie Englishoe (youth speech). The event is hosted by the Gwichyaa Zhee Gwich'in Tribal Government of Fort Yukon, Alaska, and sponsored by Doyon, Limited and Tanana Chiefs Conference. Representatives from tribes are encouraged to participate.
