White Settlement Independent School District

The meeting included a School Board Recognition event where principals and students presented appreciation gifts. It emphasizes consistent implementation of daily numeracy routines to build mathematical confidence and reasoning. Purposeful classroom discussions are highlighted for enhancing academic gains and addressing learning gaps. The plan also details the use of Thinking Maps for organizing ideas and explaining reasoning, and the 'Fundamental Five' instructional practices (framing lessons, working the power zone, purposeful student talk, reinforcing positive behaviors, and critical writing) to ensure consistent, engaging, and effective learning experiences across all classrooms.

The meeting began with a recognition of a Brewer HS senior for earning a gold medal in the Women's Football Competition at the 2025 Deaflympics in Japan. Two teachers were recognized as "Instructional All-Stars" for December. During the public comments section, a student addressed the board regarding recycling initiatives within the district. Following a closed session, the board reconvened, and the Campus Spotlight featured Liberty Elementary, where the Principal provided an update and recognized students from Hope Squad & Student Council.

The board discussed and approved the district's tax roll for the tax year 2025 and approved personnel appointments and resignations.

The public meeting is to discuss the school district's budget that will determine the tax rate that will be adopted. The discussion includes comparison of proposed budget with last year's budget, total appraised value and total taxable value, bonded indebtedness, comparison of proposed rates with last year's rates, comparison of proposed levy with last year's levy on average residence and fund balances.
