Valley Water District

The agenda includes several administrative and operational items. Business topics cover vehicle purchases, a new software RFP for utility billing, a response to a Pierce County Auditor candidate request, generator maintenance contract renewal, reporting of wetlands results at the district office, and continuing membership in the retro program. The meeting also includes special reports from various district departments and the authorization of payroll, maintenance, and construction vouchers.

The agenda for the regular meeting included standard procedural items such as Call to Order, Roll Call, Approval of Agenda, and Audience Participation. Key items for discussion involved a Resolution to amend Resolution 2012-03 concerning the District Contribution in lieu of S.S. The meeting also included receiving Special Reports from the District Engineer, District Attorney, Operations, Office, and Commissioners. Unfinished Business included a review of Employee Handbook Updates, and New Business featured an update on the Meter/MXU Change Out Project. Approval of the minutes from the 1/20/26 Board Meeting and approval of Payroll, Maintenance, and Construction Vouchers totaling $277,768.25 were also scheduled.

The Board of Commissioners adopted the 2021 base fee and commodity rates, effective for billings generated on or after January 1, 2021, which includes a 2.5% net increase to the fixed rate portion and no increase to the commodity portion. The district completed the Buttes Telemetry project and is working on replacing aging infrastructure in the Alderwood System. Projects include recoating the Buttes and Chinook Reservoirs, constructing a new Valley Reservoir and Booster Pump Station, and installing an emergency intertie with a neighboring utility. Improvements are planned for the Sierra System, including adding generators and security fencing. Additionally, booster pumps were replaced in the Winchester System. The Board of Commissioners has also adopted a Utility Customer Support Program to assist ratepayers who have fallen behind on their accounts during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
