This Plan of Action for Regional Transit, developed by the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, provides legislative recommendations to address an immediate funding crisis and outline a vision for a reimagined, financially secure regional transit system for Northeastern Illinois. The plan's strategic priorities focus on enhancing transit service, providing integrated and affordable fares, enabling faster and more reliable bus service, bolstering public confidence, rebuilding the ridership base, and investing in a universally accessible system. The intended outcome is a financially viable, regionally coordinated, comprehensive, safe, secure, clean, and efficient transit system designed to be stronger than before the COVID-19 pandemic and sustainable beyond 2026.
