Two Rivers Watershed District

The Klondike Clean Water Retention Project #11 is a multi-purpose resource initiative by the Two Rivers Watershed District designed to mitigate large-scale overland flooding impacting public infrastructure, agricultural crops, and farmsteads. Located east of Lake Bronson, MN, the project involves constructing gated storage for up to 35,250 acre-feet of water, dikes, and diversion channels. It aims to reduce downstream peak flows and flood duration, and enhance natural resources through improved fish habitat, fen protection, and water quality. The project is planned for phased implementation from 2024 to 2030.

The Overall Plan for the Two Rivers Watershed District serves as a comprehensive roadmap for managing water resources within its boundaries. Key focus areas include flood control and prevention, drainage system management, water quality protection, erosion and siltation control, and the improvement of lands, soils, waters, forest, and wildlife. The plan aims to ensure the wise use of natural resources, promote public health and welfare, and address water management problems through various initiatives, monitoring activities, and intergovernmental coordination.
