The Evergreen State College

The Evergreen State College's Strategic Plan 2025-2030 outlines the institution's direction and goals, focusing on four key themes: Access and Enrollment; Student Learning, Retention, and Success; Community, Culture, and Campus Climate; and Innovation and Investment. The plan aims to build upon recent successes in enrollment, retention, and institutional vitality, setting ambitious yet attainable goals for the future. It seeks to achieve progress by increasing enrollment, retention, and graduation rates, improving community experience, and enhancing institutional investment, all while upholding the college's mission of providing innovative, interdisciplinary learning, supporting diverse students, and committing to social and environmental justice.

The meeting included discussions and approvals regarding faculty emeriti nominations. Gratitude was expressed towards retiring adjunct faculty members and faculty rotating out of administrative assignments. The faculty handbook change proposal was discussed and voted on. Elections occurred for positions on the Agenda Committee, Council of Faculty, and Faculty Advisor Panel on the College Budget. Announcements were made regarding an upcoming LTC newsletter, UFE elections, the SW Washington Food Hub summer CSAs, and a reception for a retiring adjunct faculty member. Faculty were reminded to complete an interest survey for the upcoming Academic Retreat.

The faculty meeting included announcements from the Resource Conservation Coordinator and the Staff Photographer regarding waste reduction and documenting academic program activities, respectively. There was discussion and a vote on the proposed Faculty Handbook change, specifically section 2.300 Academic Deans. The meeting also covered Agenda Committee, Faculty Chair, and Faculty Advisory Panel on the College Budget election results.

The meeting focused on the revision of the college's mission statement. The proposed revision was presented, discussed, and subsequently approved via a voice vote. The board then moved into an executive session to plan positions related to collective bargaining, after which the meeting was adjourned.

The Faculty Meeting on May 23, 2016, addressed a proposal from the Diversity and Equity Standing Committee. The proposal, intended for inclusion in the Faculty Handbook and consideration in a Memorandum of Understanding with the United Faculty of Evergreen, emphasizes the importance of diversity, justice, and equity within the institution. The faculty committed to professional development in equity across race and intersecting identities, reflecting on their learning, integrating new equity practices in teaching, and addressing this work in annual self-evaluations.
