South Bruce

This document is a Multi-Year Accessibility Plan for The Corporation of the Municipality of South Bruce, developed to comply with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA). The plan's overall purpose is to identify, prevent, and remove barriers to accessibility within the municipality's by-laws, policies, practices, and services. Key focus areas include customer service, information and communications, employment, transportation, built environment, and the design of public spaces. The plan aims to promote independence, dignity, integration, and equality of opportunity for persons with disabilities, striving to create an accessible community and workplaces by addressing identified barriers and ensuring continuous improvement in accessibility.

The by-law establishes, ratifies, and imposes fees and charges for goods and services provided by the Municipality of South Bruce. It covers a wide range of fees including administration, planning and development, fire department services, animal control, waste disposal, cemetery, transportation, recreation, building and plumbing permits, and water and sewer services. It also includes interest and penalty charges for unpaid fees, and authorizes the treasurer to add outstanding receivables to the tax roll.

The Municipality of South Bruce's Corporate Strategic Plan for 2021-2025 is designed to build upon the progress made under the 2014-2019 plan. The plan focuses on attracting and retaining new residents, supporting local businesses, and improving infrastructure and assets. It also addresses accessibility standards, emergency management, reconciliation with Indigenous communities, and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. A key consideration is the municipality's participation in the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) site selection process.
