The Board of Trustees held a workshop to conduct the third session of the 2026-2027 budget planning process, with presentations provided by the Chief Administrators' Officer, the Chief Instruction Officer, and the Chief Operations Officer.

The board workshop focused on the second presentation regarding the 2026-2027 fiscal budget. The meeting also addressed standard procedures, including the establishment of a quorum and an open forum for public comments.

The board convened for a special called meeting to conduct a closed session hearing regarding the proposed nonrenewal of a term contract employee. Following the closed session, the board discussed and took action on the matter, ultimately approving a motion to offer a probationary contract for the upcoming school year to the employee in question, with the stipulation that the original nonrenewal move forward if the probationary contract is not executed within the specified timeframe.

The Board of Trustees discussed various recognitions, including student spotlight presentations, resolution presentations, and various teacher and staff commendations. Board reports included the announcement of continuing education credit hours. The consent agenda included approval of financial reports, investment reports, and out-of-state travel requests, as well as an election services contract. The Board conducted closed session deliberations regarding personnel matters and security. In open session, the Board approved personnel reports, certified the provision of instructional materials, approved Bluebonnet Learning math instructional materials for K-Algebra II & Geometry, and approved an EDpact consulting services agreement for the LASO Cycle 4 LIFT program.

The meeting included nominations for committee officers and a report on nursing recruitment and onboarding processes for school-based positions. Updates were provided regarding the district's school counseling services, including the TCHATT telemedicine partnership, the Mental Health Access Grant, and collaboration with Tropical Texas Behavioral Health. Discussion also covered Project LEAD, which supports mental health workforce professional development, and achievements in the Capturing Kids' Hearts initiative. Additional topics included child nutrition guidelines for exempt days and dietary allergy requirements, compliance with Senate Bill 25 regarding daily physical education mandates, and an overview of challenges related to school nursing retention.
