Rend Lake River Conservancy District

The Rend Lake Conservancy District's strategic plan outlines its long-term direction, aiming to be the main supplier of potable water for Southern Illinois communities safely and cost-effectively, while also becoming a premier tourist attraction in Southern Illinois. Key strategies focus on improving District operations and financial stability, enhancing water and wastewater systems, expanding and sustaining recreation facilities, and partnering for regional economic development through tourism.

The Rend Lake Conservancy District Board of Trustees held a regular meeting where they discussed several key items. The General Manager's report included updates on the Annual Arts and Wine Festival, a letter from Jefferson County requesting support for a new marina, potential impacts from a federal government shutdown, and an outreach program for water conservation. The board also discussed the financial report, engineering projects, water and sewer updates, golf maintenance, lodge updates, and pro shop updates. Additionally, they considered lobbyist services, valve inventory bids, the purchase of a Krohn meter, parking lot sealing and striping, an IDNR lake maintenance contract, and a membership fee for the West Frankfort Chamber of Commerce. The board went into a closed session and later discussed legal issues, an annual pass for the Rend Lake College women's golf team, IMRF long-term care, audit issues, and an ordinance to combine facilities.
