Secondary Clarifier #3 is an 85-foot diameter H40A HT Tow-Bro sludge collector clarifier, originally constructed in 1983. The interior clarifier mechanical equipment— including the center-drive mechanism, trusses, header assembly, manifold, influent well, surface skimmers, and scum beach—was replaced approx. five years ago as part of a capital improvement project. The scope of work includes: 1. Temporarily supporting the existing drive mechanism before disconnecting the center cage 2. Rebalancing the drive and replacing the grout between the top of the center pier and the bottom of the drive. 3. Heating up and bending the truss mounting bar back into its original position 4. Replacing manifold seals per manufacturer specifications 5. Mounting a new fluidizing vane to the bottom of the existing header by drilling new holes adjacent to the current ones 6. Installing additional counterweights per the manufacturer’s recommendations 7. Ensuring the drive is fully leveled and up to spec before connecting back to the main cage 8. Coordinating with equipment supplier vendor for certification that repairs were done correctly, and witness testing and performance testing for startup purposes.
