Monte Alto Independent School District

The Monte Alto ISD's Family and Community Engagement Policy aims to foster strong, positive relationships between the school, families, and the broader community to enhance student academic success, social development, and overall well-being. Key focus areas include active stakeholder involvement in policy development, annual Title I parent meetings, compliance with ESSA Section 116(e) for parental engagement, and providing parent/family workshops and conferences. The plan envisions a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive educational community that promotes lifelong learning, cultural appreciation, and strong community ties.

The strategic plan for Monte Alto Independent School District focuses on improving student proficiency in math and reading, as well as increasing college, career, and military readiness (CCMR). Key goals include raising the percentage of 3rd-grade students meeting or exceeding grade level proficiency on STAAR Math to 60% and STAAR Reading to 60% by 2030. Additionally, the plan aims to increase the percentage of graduates demonstrating college/career/military readiness to 100% by 2029.

The meeting included a superintendent's report with recognition of AR students and MAECHS soccer, softball, and baseball academic achievements. The board discussed and approved the Region One Education Service Center Subhub Services Agreement for 2025-2026, renaming Roberto Garate Elementary to Roberto Garate Discovery Academy, and renaming Jose Borrego Middle School to Jose Borrego Prepatory Academy. They also approved appointing an agent of record for health and supplemental insurance benefits and several items over $10,000, including Region One Summer STEM Camps, renewal of Toshiba Copier Lease Agreement, renewal of TASB Liability Insurance, CTE Graphic Design Classroom Desktop Computers, District-Wide Classroom Flat Panels, Bluebonnet Reading Curriculum, Region One SPED Coop 2nd Triannual Invoice, and EMS Services Payment. The board went into an executive session to discuss personnel matters including resignations, retirements, and employment.

The meeting included comments from the public, recognition of the Monte Alto ISD School Board, and information-only presentations on the Audit Presentation for Fiscal Year 2023-2024, Student Data, and STAAR Test Scores (December 2024). The board also discussed and acted on approving the 2023-2024 Monte Alto ISD Annual Financial Report and changes to update signatures on the district's bank accounts. Additionally, the Board of Trustees convened in an Executive Session to discuss personnel matters before reconvening in an Open Session.

The meeting included a public hearing on the Texas Assessment Performance Report and recognized counselors, district U.I.L participants, and AR students. The board discussed and approved strong Foundation Planning Stipends and SSI Grant-funded positions. They reviewed and adopted TASB local policy update 124 and a resolution authorizing pay for the District's hourly employees for January 21, 2025. Additionally, they approved payments for Tri-Gen Construction and Region One Special Education COOP. The board went into an executive session to discuss personnel matters and later reconvened in open session before adjourning.
