The Board of Trustees held a budget workshop to review staffing trends, student enrollment data, and financial projections for the upcoming school year. Discussions included an analysis of staffing strategies to align with student-to-teacher ratios, a review of legislative bills impacting the budget, and property tax rate considerations. Additionally, the Board reviewed results from an innovative schools survey that identified a strong interest in STEM, fine arts, and outdoor, experiential learning opportunities among families and students.

The board conducted a public hearing on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (Schools FIRST) for the 2023-2024 rating period based on the 2022-2023 fiscal year. The district received an 'A' rating for Superior Achievement with a total weighted score of 98 points. The session included a detailed review of 21 financial indicators, covering topics such as financial solvency, debt compliance, administrative cost ratios, and financial reporting accuracy. The Board of Trustees held a workshop session to review and discuss Board Operating Procedures with a representative from Region One ESC. No formal actions were taken by the board during this session.

The board reviewed and approved numerous curriculum and instruction, human resources, governance, business office, safe schools, and technology items through a consent agenda and individual actions. Key business office actions included deliberations on delinquent tax attorney services, security guard services, and property and casualty insurance, as well as executive session discussions on personnel and legal settlements.

The board conducted a public hearing regarding the proposed 2024-2025 budget and tax rate. The Chief Financial Officer presented the details of the general operating revenue, expenditures, debt service fund, special revenue fund, and the health insurance fund. The proposed budget highlights included revenue from local, state, and federal sources, as well as payroll, contracted services, and capital outlay expenses. No action was taken during this session.
