The Project involves demolition of the remaining portions of the Francis Scott Key Bridge and additional miscellaneous marine work. The Scope of Work includes removal of two three-span steel plate girder units over the Patapsco River. These steel plate girders are to be salvaged and stored near the Project Site. The Work also includes complete demolition of five concrete piers (two land piers and three marine piers) and partial demolition of eight additional concrete marine piers. In addition, the Project requires excavation and disposal of soil within 246 steel pipe piles, each 96 inches in diameter, located on both sides of the Patapsco River Federal Navigation Channel. These piles will form part of the main span foundations for the replacement bridge.
