The meeting was about the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and how Lake County is planning to use the federal funds allocated to them. The funds are meant to help fight the pandemic, support families and businesses, maintain vital public services, and build a strong, resilient, and equitable recovery. The county is seeking community input on the needs and priorities as they recover from the pandemic.

The Lake County Health Department's strategic plan focuses on promoting health and well-being for all residents by addressing social, economic, and environmental factors that contribute to health inequities. The plan aims to ensure access to quality education, living wage jobs, safe environments, affordable housing, transportation, and medical care. The vision is to create healthy choices, healthier people, and the healthiest communities in Lake County, making it one of the healthiest places to live, work, and play.

The Lake County Board convened to discuss various matters, including presentations on Red Ribbon Week and United Way. The board reviewed Metra and PACE programs and budgets for 1998. Resolutions were passed recognizing Child Health Month, Illinois Home Care Month, and Domestic Violence and Child Health Month. The board also discussed the Open Meetings Act and sign removal on county highways. Approvals were given for contracts, agreements, and appropriations related to road improvements, traffic signal maintenance, and engineering services. Additionally, the board addressed zoning ordinance amendments, leased space for the Regional Superintendent of Schools, and a renovation project for the Lake County Health Department. Intergovernmental agreements, victim assistance programs, and child support enforcement were also discussed and approved.
