Kress Independent School District

The Board of Trustees of the Kress Independent School District convened a meeting to discuss and resolve the construction and renovation of district facilities. The board determined that using a Construction Manager-At-Risk (CMAR) delivery method provides the best value for the district's 2025 Bond Projects. The Superintendent was authorized to prepare and issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) to solicit proposals from potential CMARs, and to establish criteria and related weights for evaluating and ranking these proposals. The resolution includes a list of bond projects under consideration, such as construction of a new maintenance building, renovations to the auditorium and cafeteria, improvements to the elementary campus, and additional seating in the gym.

The public meeting is to discuss the school district's budget that will determine the tax rate that will be adopted. Public participation in the discussion is invited.

Total appraised value and total taxable value of all property are compared between the preceding tax year and the current tax year. The notice also includes a comparison of proposed rates with last year's rates, including maintenance and operations, and interest & sinking fund. The comparison of the proposed levy with last year's levy on the average residence is also provided.

The Kress ISD ESSER III plan addresses learning loss and social-emotional needs through various initiatives. These include summer school and intensive tutoring programs to accelerate learning, the purchase of instructional materials and software, technology infrastructure upgrades (hotspots and devices), a PreK-12 social-emotional learning program, professional development for teachers (including reading academies and a first-year teacher academy), and teacher recruitment and retention efforts. The plan also includes addressing social/emotional and behavioral issues through additional counseling support and professional development. Technology upgrades include purchasing additional student devices, hotspots, and refreshing the technology infrastructure.
