The 2024-2026 Strategic Plan for the Kentucky State Historical Records Advisory Board outlines four key goals. The Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives (KDLA) Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Strategic Plan (FY2023-FY2025) focuses on four key goals: 1) increasing diversity at all organizational levels to better reflect the customer base and served communities; 2) providing and promoting training resources for all staff levels; 3) providing and promoting training resources for all customer groups; and 4) ensuring collections are accessible and represent the diversity of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The plan outlines specific strategies and measures of success for each goal, including recruitment outreach programs, diverse training formats, collection development initiatives, and the use of reparative descriptions to address bias in metadata. The plan aims to create a more inclusive and equitable environment for staff, customers, and the communities served by KDLA.

The Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives' Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Grants to States Five-Year Plan (2023-2027) addresses the information and library needs of Kentucky residents. The plan focuses on three main goals: 1) Information Access: improving access to resources and public records through various projects such as digital archives and the Kentucky Talking Book Library; 2) Institutional Capacity: enhancing the skills of library and archival staff through professional development and training; and 3) Lifelong Learning: improving services supporting lifelong learning, employment, early literacy, youth development, and civic engagement through initiatives like youth services support and family literacy programs. The plan aims to overcome disparities in library services across the state, particularly in rural areas, and to address the needs of diverse populations, including those with disabilities. Evaluation will involve surveys, interviews, project reports, and an external evaluation.
