Jasper County

The Jasper County Commissioners Court held a public meeting to vote on the proposed tax rate for the 2023 tax year. The proposed tax rate was $0.6132 per $100, which is not greater than the no-new-revenue tax rate. The voter-approval tax rate was $0.6415 per $100. The meeting was to allow public expression of support or opposition to the proposed tax rate.

The Board of Trustees of Vidor Independent School District has called for an election to be held on November 5, 2024, regarding Proposition A. This proposition seeks authorization for the issuance of $98,400,000 in bonds. These funds are earmarked for the design, construction, acquisition, renovation, expansion, improvement, and equipping of school buildings within the district. Key projects include enhancements to Pine Forest Elementary School, Vidor Elementary School, Oak Forest Elementary School, and Vidor Middle School, along with improvements to Vidor High School. The proposition also includes the authorization to levy and collect annual ad valorem taxes to repay the bonds.

The Commissioners Court of Jasper County, Texas, convened to canvass the results of the General Election held on November 8, 2022, for the purpose of electing State and District Officers, Members of Congress, Members of the Legislature, County and Precinct Officers. The court ratified the appointments made by the Jasper County Clerk's Office with respect to the Election, certified the returns, and reported them to the Texas Secretary of State in accordance with the Texas Election Code.
