Key strategic pillars include ensuring safety through increased security resources, patrols, and technology upgrades; improving cleanliness with increased daily cleaning frequencies and new equipment; boosting reliability by refreshing the fleet, optimizing service routes, and expanding specialized transit options; and enhancing accessibility through significant infrastructure investments and making 700 additional bus stops fully accessible by the end of 2025. Additionally, the plan introduces and expands microtransit services with a substantial investment in fiscal year 2025 to provide on-demand, climate-friendly transportation solutions.

The Houston Vision Zero Action Plan outlines a comprehensive strategy to eliminate traffic deaths and serious injuries by 2030. It is structured around four key approaches: Communication, Safe Systems, Safe Speeds, and Programming. The plan aims to create safe, equitable, and accessible streets for all users, including pedestrians, cyclists, wheelchair users, and drivers, fostering healthy and resilient neighborhoods and prioritizing human life over vehicle speed.
