The meeting included discussions and motions regarding the task force's progress, actions, and future steps. A letter was directed to be sent to the Chairs of the House and Senate Education Committees, requesting an extension of the task force's work through 2016. Task force members agreed to each research a different component to present at future meetings, with a volunteer to draft required questions for consistency. Proposed times for future meetings through June were also set to be circulated.

The task force meeting included discussions on the goals, scope, and components of a framework for student data privacy, distinguishing between data privacy and security, and identifying best practices. Applicable state and federal laws, such as COPPA, SIPA, FERPA, and acceptable use policies, were reviewed for their roles in data protection and management. The task force agreed to address a different component of data privacy at each subsequent meeting, with a focus on school supports planned for the next session. Members also discussed how to manage data for students who frequently transfer schools.

The meeting addressed the discussion and acceptance of a draft proposal for task force workgroups, including Data Governance and Management, Supports for Schools and Educators, and Transparency and Accountability. The task force members were requested to report back on their constituencies' understanding of the resources and processes in place to address each of the workgroup topics and to rank the workgroups they would prefer to participate in.
