Board Of Governors Meeting
The open session agenda covered several key items for approval and information. A Consent Agenda was approved, excluding the minutes of the December 5, 2025 meeting which were for approval within the consent agenda itself. Key discussion points included the President's Report covering recent events, open houses, and federal budget implications, particularly regarding study permit reductions. The Board considered and approved revisions to Special Resolutions concerning Board Collegiality and Conflict of Interest. A major item for approval was the Ggwepnandizamin Stewardship Plan of Trent Lands and Nature Areas Plan, a seven-year roadmap (2025-2032) for land stewardship guided by Michi Saagiig Knowledge Systems, which carries no immediate direct budget implications. Reports for information included the Financial Update showing a projected operating deficit of $3.1 million due largely to international enrolment shortfalls, the Capital Projects Update detailing the completion of some projects and ongoing major multi-year initiatives like the Faryon Bridge rehabilitation, and the Senate Mid-Year Report outlining new program approvals and policy updates. The Board also received reports on the Annual Review of Credit Rating, which included an approved one-time out-of-policy payment adjustment for the sinking fund, and the 2026/2027 Operating Budget Update, noting a conservative budgeting approach due to fiscal challenges.
