Board of Supervisors of Monterey County Meeting
The Board of Supervisors meeting focused primarily on public opposition to the potential renewal or expansion of contracts for Flock ALPR (Automated License Plate Recognition) camera surveillance technologies. Residents and community members expressed strong concerns regarding the impact of this technology on community trust, privacy rights, potential data misuse, and the risk of collaboration with federal immigration enforcement agencies. Speakers argued that the county should prioritize community-based resources over surveillance infrastructure and expressed significant dissatisfaction with the conduct of law enforcement officials regarding the matter.
