The Charles County Government's strategic plan for Calendar Year 2011 is dedicated to providing high-quality, efficient, and courteous services to its citizens, guided by comprehensive planning and fiscal responsibility. It envisions Charles County as a place where residents and businesses prosper, heritage and environment are preserved, and the quality of life is exceptional. The plan is built upon seven key goals: improving economic development and tourism, enhancing infrastructure, optimizing government operations and services, comprehensive planning, supporting education benchmarks, maintaining public safety, and promoting environmental awareness.

The meeting presented a new supplement for the Maryland Stormwater Design Manual, focusing on rain gardens, landscape infiltrations, and microbio-retentions. Key topics included the criteria for these three stormwater management practices, site suitability requirements such as soil types and water table depth, the importance of professional geotechnical reports, and a streamlined permitting process through pre-approved plant lists and design notes. The panel addressed common homeowner concerns including maintenance challenges, aesthetics, and failure rates, while emphasizing the goal of enhancing long-term quality assurance and owner satisfaction.

The commissioners conducted work sessions for the fiscal year 2027 budget, reviewing the general fund, enterprise funds, special revenue funds, fees, charges, and the capital improvement plan. A public hearing was held regarding the budget. Additionally, the commissioners unanimously approved a zoning text amendment bill concerning accessory dwelling units and reviewed community-based projects under the Keep Charles County Beautiful initiative, including litter control and watershed cleanup efforts.

The commissioners were briefed on the proposed fiscal year 2027 budget, which reflects a 7.9% increase over the previous year.
