During the public comment session, a community member expressed concerns regarding communication failures and lack of preparation in the CTE cosmetology program at the high school.

The Board of Education convened a special meeting to conduct a student discipline hearing. The meeting included the formal acceptance of the agenda, a closed session to consider a student disciplinary matter, and the subsequent return to open session to adopt a resolution regarding student discipline.

This document introduces the Ypsilanti Community Schools' new five-year Strategic Plan, which serves as a roadmap to achieve the "Portrait of a Graduate." The plan is centered on developing six core traits in scholars: Leader and Learner, Curious Inquirer, Reflective Thinker, Creative Innovator, Adaptive Collaborator, and Future-Ready Designer. Every goal within the plan is designed to foster these qualities, preparing students to thrive in college, career, and life by equipping them to shape a changing world.

Discussion topics highlighted the school's points of pride, including the establishment of the school with community involvement, various student cultural and holiday celebrations, the formation of student leadership clubs such as student council, robotics, and Girl Scouts, the publication of a book by third-grade students, the establishment of a community parent-teacher organization and resource center, and a partnership with the University of Michigan for an English language development master's program.

The Board held a regular meeting that included a moment of silence for victims of a tragic incident in Uvalde, Texas. Achievements and points of pride for the Estabrook learning community were highlighted, covering areas such as early intervention programs, the buddy bench initiative, social-emotional learning, mentoring partnerships with Big Brothers Big Sisters, student math achievement, and multicultural programming. The Board also conducted recognitions for the 2020 Teacher of the Year and honored several retiring staff members for their years of service and dedication to the district.
