The Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Urban Design Guidelines serve as a practical toolkit and user-friendly reference for guiding new development within the VMC, elaborating on the urban vision established by the VMC Secondary Plan. The document is structured around key elements including Framework, Character Areas, Urban Typologies, Typical Blocks, Design Guidelines, and Implementation. It focuses on facilitating a transit-oriented, walkable, accessible, diverse, vibrant, green, and beautiful urban center, with a particular emphasis on mid-block connections, privately-owned publicly-accessible spaces, and thresholds, aiming to create a high-quality pedestrian experience and integrated public and private realms.
