The plan emphasizes modernizing learning environments, ensuring financial stewardship, and fostering student and staff investment. Community input is being gathered to address logistical challenges such as student demographics and traffic flow, while expanding academic and extracurricular opportunities for all students.

This demographic study provides population and enrollment forecasts for Michigan City Area Schools from Academic Year 2024-25 through 2033-34. The study forecasts a steady population and slight enrollment decline over the next five years, primarily due to an aging population, an increase in empty nest housing, and low household turnover. Key findings include a projected decrease of 303 students (-6.1%) from AY 2023-24 to AY 2028-29, followed by an increase of 42 students (0.9%) from AY 2028-29 to AY 2033-34, and an increasing median age for the district's population.

The meeting included discussions about new programs, certifications, and dual credit opportunities for students attending Michigan high schools. Exceptional fall athletes Leah Thomas and Taylor Scabinski were recognized for qualifying for the IHSAA girls golf state finals.
