This Community Profile document details key trends and current conditions within the City of Maize across demographics, housing, identity, amenities, economy, employment, mobility, transportation, and community design. It serves to inform the Comprehensive Plan Update process by synthesizing community values and strategic themes, which include schools, public services, traffic and transportation, community and identity, public and private amenities, and sustainable growth and development. The overarching goal is to guide future planning and development efforts for smart and sustainable progress.

The City of Maize, Kansas, has adopted a Wireless Communication Master Plan as an amendment to its Comprehensive Plan. This plan addresses state and federal mandates for wireless communication infrastructure and applies to all land within the city's corporate limits, adapting references to include the City of Maize and its officials.

The council reviewed and approved a development agreement and the establishment of a community improvement district for the Holiday Inn Express, including incentives like a 2% sales tax and a 2% guest tax rebate to support necessary property renovations. Additionally, the city manager presented the proposed fiscal year 2027 budget, which features an increase in assessed valuation and a reduction in the city's mill levy, reflecting a focus on long-term financial health and sustainable infrastructure planning.

The council meeting included a public hearing regarding special assessments for various development projects within the city, such as Eagle's Nest, Fox Creek, and others. Key discussions centered on the nature of these special assessments, how they are determined by developers, and the lack of transparency for homeowners regarding future assessment phases.
