The Town Council held a worksession to discuss various agenda items. The Director of Utilities announced two emergency purchases: one for three HVAC system controllers totaling $10,592.73, and another for the repair and replacement of two pumps at the Westfork lift station, which were damaged during a recent winter storm, at a cost of $18,821.30.

The commission addressed various land use and development requests, including multiple annexations, rezonings, and subdivision plats. Key actions included the approval of an annexation and PUD zoning request for 452 Properties, LLC, and the approval of various preliminary and final plats for residential developments such as Gambill Oaks, Hidden Hills, Briley Downs, and Fox Meadows. Site plans for Newberry Retail and the Stevens Smyrna Airport Hangar were approved, while the site plan for Bailey Equipment was deferred. Additionally, the commission recommended approval of a land donation from Drapac and approved the November bond review report.

The Council reviewed the results of an employee engagement survey conducted through Energage, with presentations from the Town Manager and Director of Human Resources regarding management and staff next steps. Additionally, an update was provided on the implementation and launch of the SeeClickFix and My Smyrna mobile application.

The Town Council and Planning Commission held a quarterly joint meeting to discuss several regulatory items. Topics addressed included the Tree Ordinance and landscaping requirements, regulations regarding self-storage buildings in commercial districts, and various temporary retail uses such as mobile food vendors, temporary outdoor sales, yard sales, and fireworks. The board also reviewed watershed zoning and buffer regulations, as well as accessory apartments in R-4 districts. Items regarding mobile food vendors, watershed zoning, and accessory apartments were tabled for future discussion due to time constraints.
