Board of Education Board Workshop
The Board held a workshop to discuss the implementation of a new teacher evaluation system, Evaluate Davis, which aligns with the district's strategic plan and high reliability framework. Key discussion topics included the three pillars of deliberate practice: specific goal setting, targeted feedback, and coaching. The new system, which is being piloted in 37 schools, features a six-step annual cycle incorporating individual teacher goals and school-wide objectives. Board members reviewed the new observation process, which offers teachers the choice between in-person observations and video submissions, and discussed the administrative workload impact, noting that observation times are being adjusted. Plans for future evaluation systems for administrative and classified staff were also addressed.
