The meeting centered on Wellness Policy Goal #3 concerning student physical activity opportunities. Discussions covered findings from the Smart Source Results 2023 and the Healthy Kids Colorado Survey Results 2025, noting that D6 students spend more time active than average but also more time on digital screens. Updates from the Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) included planning for Spring Campaigns (Smoothie Bike & Gratitude), bringing back Painting Days, and reporting on SHAC student representation to the Board of Education, along with new student recruitment. Guest speakers presented on various initiatives supporting physical activity, such as the Saints in Motion Running Club, Sensory Paths, Walk-N-Roll to School events, 5210+ Month challenges, and Intramural Programs at Jackson ES and Madison STEAM K-8. The Fred Tjardes School of Innovation detailed their protected recess time, use of shake/vibrating plates and trampolines during learning, and Exploratory sessions. Maplewood ES shared strategies for integrating physical activity in the classroom via Brain Breaks and Fit Sticks, and discussed health promotion activities. The Active Schools Institute at UNC presented their evidence-based strategies, including promotion before/after school, quality Physical Education, and their contribution to the Generation Wild Greeley initiative. A District 6 perspective highlighted the need for clarity on qualifications for highly qualified PE teachers and standard assessments. Celebrations included high participation rates in Smart Source and the Healthy Kids Colorado Survey, expansion of Smoothie Bikes to 25 schools, and the successful recruitment of new SHAC members. Updates also covered the purchase of an Icycleta attachment and an open search for Nutrition Education Assistants.

The work session included a review of the upcoming calendar, noting scheduled negotiations, elementary coral festivals, a school visit to Greeley Central, and the Success Foundation breakfast. Board members provided numerous comments on recent activities, including recognition of students who attended the Casby Student Day at the Capitol and positive feedback from school visits to Martinez Elementary and the Discover Six Academy at Greeley West. Several members also discussed attending the Greeley Central High School Big Band Boogie Ball and the Greeley Chamber Dinner. Discussions also touched upon university relations, including UNC scholarship offerings for Greeley High School graduates and potential collaboration using the Zello platform. Other highlights included praise for the Greeley Central Cultural Assembly showcasing student diversity and the Fred Chardis spelling bee. A board member shared positive observations from the Martinez Elementary visit, noting the impact of bond funding on housing all students under one roof and the success of project-based learning activities, such as third graders designing tiny homes. Recognition was extended to Danielle Bach for the Silver Plate Award in Nutrition Services.
