The meeting commenced with a roll call confirming a quorum and included opening remarks and prayer. Key agenda items included recognizing several Rome High School and Rome Middle School students and teams for athletic and academic achievements, including volleyball and cross country honors, and Math Leader Awards. Board Members Jill Fisher and Dr. Melissa Davis were recognized for their service. The Superintendent presented the personnel recommendations for the 2025-2026 school year, which were approved. The Director of Instructional Technology, Safety, and Operations presented the ESPLOST VI receipts for November 2025, showing a positive variance against the anticipated amount. East Central Elementary presented its school spotlight, detailing strong results on CCRPI tests, emphasis on literacy programs, and high levels of family engagement. New business involved the approval of spring fundraising requests, a first reading of the school calendar for School Year 2027, and the unanimous approval of the 2026 Board of Education meeting dates. Communications included the announcement of Dr. Dennis Drummond as the new Assistant Superintendent and Dr. Eric Robertson as the interim principal at Main Elementary.

The meeting included recognition of elementary, secondary, and staff attendance winners. The Board approved personnel recommendations for employment for the 2025-2026 school year and reviewed the ESPLOST VI receipts for August 2025. There was a presentation on the Teaching, Leading, and Learning Team, focusing on the instructional framework, continuous improvement cycle, and the Read Across Rome program. The Board also discussed progress reports, DIBELS Universal Screening, Superintendent Student Advisory Council Meetings, and various staff development and stakeholder engagement activities. The board approved New Board Policy JCDAF Student Use of Personal Electronics, a revision to Board Policy JR: Student Records, and a revision to Board Policy JB: Student Attendance. The board also approved Board Policy IHF (6): Graduation Requirements and the local board training plan for 2025-2026.

The meeting included public recognition of Rome Middle School students for signing the REACH Scholar agreement, acknowledgements from Rome City Schools thanking all veterans, and recognition of Rome High School's football team for winning the Region 5-5A Title. The Superintendent's Report included attendance reports and personnel recommendations. The ESPLOST VI receipts for October 2025 were presented. West Central Principal McKesey Wheeler presented information about West Central. The meeting also included discussion of district instructional rounds, progress reports, CTAE Regional Competitions, Superintendent Student Advisory Council Youth Leadership in Action with UGA, Rome High's Football team, Georgia Superintendents' Workforce Leadership Academy, Read Across Rome, Rome High girls basketball team, Thanksgiving Holiday, MAP Testing, and Georgia Milestones Winter End of Course Tests. Other topics included staff development, stakeholder engagement, safety & operations, and communications.

The Board discussed various topics, including attendance reports, personnel recommendations for the 2024-2025 & 2025-2026 school years, and ESPLOST VI receipts for May 2025. Updates were provided on summer school, early literacy camp, and a summer transition program for rising kindergarteners. Staff development, stakeholder engagement, and safety & operations were also addressed. The FY26 proposed budget was presented and approved, along with the adoption of the Curriculum Amplify ELA for Rome Middle School. The Floyd County Health Care Management Contract Amendment was approved, and Mrs. Coretta Stewart was reappointed to the Sara Hightower Regional Library Board. Comments were shared from the Georgia School Boards Association Summer Conference.
